  • Architect, DISCstor/Filer: Proposed follow-on to DISCstor/NAS. Created proof of concept filesystem in C and C++.

Implemented it, including the distributed computing servelets and control consoles. Created clustered storage migration software for network-replicating archival storage across multiple optical jukeboxes.   • Product architect, BRU-Pro backup product for Linux and Unix: did most of the design work, authored the design documentation, was lead programmer on the implementation team. Laid out "three-box" client-server-backup agent componetized object-oriented design. Wrote huge chunks including the storage manager, the SCSI tape drivers, the SCSI media changer driver, the cryptographically secured network protocols, the public key and private key encryption modules, the tape restore and verify modules, the installation system, the tape server and backup agent servelets, and the database schema and low-level database access classes, using Python, "C", SQL, and Unix shell scripting and the GNU tool chain. Ported BRU-Pro tape server to FreeBSD, helped port to Solaris, helped port BRU-Pro backup agent to FreeBSD, Solaris, HP/UX, IRIX, AIX, BSD/OS, SCO Openserver, SCO Unixware.
  • Open Source software contributor: Maintainer of the MTX SCSI media changer device driver for Linux and Unix(http://mtx.sourceforge.net), AESCrypt stream encryption program for Unix, (http://aescrypt.sourceforge.net), Ocotillo cryptographic-quality pseudo-random-number generator for Unix (http://ocotillo.sourceforge.net).
