Am I an environmentalist? Are environmentalists commies?I would consider myself a pro-property-rights person. In my opinion, too many busy-bodies are poking their nose into other people's business. Zoning laws, homeowners associates, etc. that tell people what they can do with their bought-and-paid-for property are evil in my book. I want to move a double-wide onto my property in the middle of Fountain Hills [a tony part of the Phoenix area] and stick a dozen rusty old cars on blocks in my front yard so that I feel like I'm back home in Louisiana? Hey, it's my property. Where the hell does the city of Fountain Hills and the local homeowners association get off with telling me what the hell I can do with my property? If it's mine, I ought to be able to do whatever the hell I want to do with it. As long, that is, as I don't dump poison onto my neighbor's property. Or go onto public lands (lands that are the common property of all citizens of the United States) and rape them and treat them as if they were my own property. The way I see it, a business has every right to do anything and everything, until it starts poisoning other people's property or poisoning its own workers. Then you're interfering with other people's property rights. Then you're interfering with other people's God-given right to life. That's wrong, that's evil, and I applaud every effort to prosecute such criminals. You have a right to do whatever the hell you want on your own property, but don't you *DARE* spew your poisons onto *MY* land. Then you're violating *MY* property rights, and you deserve to get smacked hard by all power of government. The fact that we have right-wing apologists trying to make excuses for people violating *MY* property rights is sickening, and exposes just what kind of hypocrits we're talking about. They have plenty of respect for their own property rights, but don't give a damn about anybody else's property rights. Hypocrits. Double-talking scumbags. Bah. But hey, talking about *MY* property rights doesn't pay the bills, and pimping for Corporate America does. Maybe that's why all these right wingnuts seem to only give a damn about corporate America's property rights, and not one damned bit about mine. Now, I don't agree with everything that the Sierra Club etc. want to do. When they want to interfere with my own use of my own land (when such use does not interfere with other people's property rights), they deserve to be slapped down. But the hypocrits who are branding these folks as "enviro-whackos" need to pluck the plank from their own eyeball before noting a splinter in someone else's. |
